ENZE is growing, and we’re looking for pastry chefs to join our Sydney kitchens.
With our new ENZE Bondi location opening in October, we’re looking for people who love cakes, enjoy working with their hands and want to grow with a fast-growing cake brand.
Our cakes are baked fresh and finished by hand. From birthday cakes and bento cakes to cheesecakes and custom designs, the finishing touches are what customers see when they open the box.
That’s where our pastry chefs come in.
What does a pastry chef do at ENZE?
The role is mainly about three things: masking, piping and decorating.
Masking
Masking is the foundation of our cakes. You’ll coat our soft chiffon cakes in fresh whipped cream and create the smooth, clean finish ENZE is known for.
Chiffon is light and delicate, so masking takes a good feel and a steady hand. Getting that perfectly smooth finish is a skill, and it’s one we spend a lot of time training.
Piping
Once the cake is masked, piping adds the detail.
You’ll work on borders, rosettes, shells, swirls and more detailed designs. Some cakes are simple and clean, while others are much more intricate.
Consistency is key. Every cake needs to look great when it leaves the kitchen and still look great when it arrives at the customer’s door.
Decoration and finishing
This is where everything comes together.
You’ll work with fresh fruit, garnishes, chocolate plaques, bento cakes and cheesecakes, as well as checking that the finished cake matches the customer’s order.
You’ll also photograph the cake and make sure it’s correctly packed and ready for collection or delivery.
What we’re looking for
If you’re looking for pastry chef jobs in Sydney or cake decorating jobs in Sydney, you might be a good fit if you:

Have a steady hand and good attention to detail
-
Can follow recipes and presentation standards consistently
-
Stay calm when things get busy
-
Understand how to handle delicate sponge cakes
-
Work well as part of a team

Want to build your pastry skills and progress your career
Experience with chiffon or sponge cakes is a bonus, but it’s not essential.
Full working rights in Australia are required.
Join the ENZE Bondi team
Our ENZE Bondi opening in October is an exciting next step for the brand, and we’re looking for pastry chefs who want to be part of it from the beginning.
Working at a new location also means there will be opportunities for experienced team members to take on more responsibility as the business grows.
We have a structured kitchen skills program covering masking, piping, assembly, chocolate work and other pastry skills. Progression is based on what you can do and the skills you develop.
There’s a pathway from Junior Pastry Chef → Pastry Chef → Chef de Partie → Senior Kitchen roles.
What is it like working at ENZE?
You’ll be working alongside bakers, kitchen hands and store staff, all focused on getting beautiful cakes out to customers on time.
It can get busy, particularly on Saturdays, public holidays and during major celebration periods, so we’re looking for people who enjoy working in a fast-paced kitchen.
At the same time, we care about doing things properly. We want people who are reliable, take pride in their work and are happy to keep learning.
Why work at ENZE?
ENZE has built its reputation around fresh chiffon cakes, balanced flavours and careful presentation.
We’re not a traditional bakery, and we’re not a mass-production factory. Our cakes are made fresh and finished by hand, with every cake going to someone’s birthday, anniversary, workplace celebration or special occasion.
As ENZE continues to grow across Sydney, there are opportunities to grow with us.
If you enjoy cake decorating, care about quality and want to develop your skills, we’d love to hear from you.
