What You Told Us, and What We Changed
We read everything you leave with us, the reviews, the comments, the messages. Most of it is kind, some of it is useful, and lately a few notes came through often enough that they ended up back in the kitchen.
Here are three cakes we've quietly made better, thanks to you, this is part of how we continuously refine ENZE cakes.
Strawberry Mochi
You wanted it more refreshing, and you were right. There's more of that yoghurt tang now, extra fresh diced strawberries for a little more acidity and texture, and we've eased the sweetness back a touch. It tastes lighter and brighter for it. You'll find the Strawberry Mochi Cake here.
Lavender Coconut
The lavender was coming through too softly. We'd been steeping the buds in cream, but the scent kept slipping away, so we now brew them into a chocolate montée instead. It holds the lavender far better and adds a smooth richness to the cream we didn't expect. Have a look at the Lavender Coconut Cake.
Jasmine & Mandarin
The jasmine was a little shy. We've increased the tea in the cream so it comes through clearly in every bite, without tipping into bitterness. The Jasmine & Mandarin Cream Cake is here.
We don't launch new flavours every other week just to chase a trend and move on. We'd rather do the slower thing. To us, a flavour isn't really finished the day it goes on the menu, that's just where it starts. Properly getting one right takes time, and it takes coming back to it again and again after launch, adjusting in small ways as we learn how people actually eat it and what they tell us. Most of these changes are quiet. You might not notice any single one. But it's the reason the cake you order this year tastes a little better than the same cake last year.
None of these are dramatic makeovers. They're small refinements, the kind that only happen because you take the time to tell us what you think. So thank you. Keep it coming; we're always reading.
Lots of Love,
Stella
